A
lawn ornament can be a great way to add some life to your lawn , but
you just need to make sure you don’t overdo it. While a couple
of lawn ornaments can be cute, a yard full of them will do nothing
except make you the butt of jokes by your neighbors.
But, if you are committed to being responsible with your lawn ornament
choices, here are a few of the more popular kinds from which you can
choose that may give your yard the extra livelihood that you are looking
for.
• Bird bath – These structures are often used to help
bring some wildlife to your lawn. In addition to attracting birds,
it often also attracts squirrels looking to clean themselves up as
well. These baths are available usually either in stone or plastic.
If you use plastic, make sure the bath is weighted down or a strong
gust of wind could carry it away.
• Gnome – The popularity of these garden gnomes are confusing
to some, but others would never even consider having a garden without
one of these gnomes. It really is a personal preference, but you probably
would do well to not have more than just a couple of these outside
your home.
• Plastic flamingo – You have most likely seen this on
someone’s lawn before. It is hard to find much rhyme or reason
concerning why these are popular, but it is quite obvious that they
are used often. As a mater of fact, the first flamingo was created
in 1946 and thy have been popping up on people’s lawns ever
since.
If you are looking for another kind of lawn ornament, you may want
to consider lawn jockeys, mirror balls, animal forms, or pinwheels.
Still, regardless of what your final choice is, the rule of thumb
for ornaments on your lawn should be “less is more.”
