When
you are talking about outdoor décor, you could be talking about
a million different things. For example, you could be referencing
anything from thermometers to gnomes, from flamingos to swings.
The truth is there are tons and tons of different items that you
can use to improve the beauty of the outside of your home. Therefore,
let’s instead focus on one specific thing that may make the
outside of your home nicer than just about anything else could –
planters.
So, in order for you to better understand how to use planters to
liven up the outdoors, here is some advice:
Anything can be a planter
Open your mind as well as your eyes and you will discover that virtually
anything can be made into a special planter. These things include
old watering cans, bird cages, colanders, olive oil cans, enamel ware,
old camping cups, wheelbarrows, old sinks, buckets, baskets, vegetable
soup cans, canning jars and even boots.
Basically what this means is that there is nothing that you can’t
use for decorations purposes. This should allow you to have a better
idea of what kind of decoration you would like when you understand
that there are in all actuality very few limitations.
Give plants what they need
So, if you have decided to use planters to decorate, you need to
make sure that you can give your plants exactly what they need. What
they need is air, sun, rain, nutrients and, of course, a little bit
of love. You should be able to get a feel for what your plants like
and dislike. Much like your children like and dislike certain things,
your plants are the same.
Match your plant to the planter
This does not mean that your plant and the planter should necessarily
be the same color. However, it does mean that you should be aware
of the sizes of your plants and your planters. Don’t try to
squeeze a large plant into an itty bitty planter. Likewise, don’t
put a small plant in a huge planter where it can get lost.
The best advice when dealing with this is to simply use common sense
and trust yourself that you know what looks right and what looks wrong.
In addition to the aesthetics, you also must pay attention to the
fact that if you do not properly match up your plants and your planters
you could be doing irreparable harm to your plants.
Follow these few tips and pieces of advice and your outdoor décor
should get a nice start. If additional changes need to be made, you
can do so, but by starting on your foundation of planters first you
will be able to better start the process up.
